Plant Care

Plant Care Guide

Every plant is unique, but these basic guidelines will help your new tropical plant adjust and thrive.

After Delivery

Carefully unpack your plant as soon as possible. Remove all protective packaging and inspect the leaves, stems, and soil.

Shipping can temporarily stress a plant, so minor drooping, curling, or leaf discoloration may occur during the adjustment period.

Place your plant in a warm location with bright, indirect light and allow it time to recover before making major changes.

Light

Most Monstera, Alocasia, Philodendron, and other tropical plants prefer bright, indirect light.

Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which may burn the leaves. Low light can slow growth and reduce variegation.

Watering

Check the soil before watering. Water when the upper portion of the soil begins to feel dry.

Water thoroughly and allow excess water to drain completely. Never allow the plant to remain in standing water.

Overwatering can cause yellow leaves and root damage.

Humidity

Many tropical plants appreciate moderate to high humidity. A humidifier may be helpful, especially for Alocasia, fresh imports, and highly variegated plants.

Maintain airflow around the plant to reduce the risk of fungal problems.

Temperature

Keep plants in a warm, stable environment and away from cold drafts, air-conditioning vents, heaters, and sudden temperature changes.

Repotting

Do not immediately repot a newly delivered plant unless there is an urgent problem.

Allow the plant time to adjust to its new environment before changing its pot or growing medium.

Important Reminder

Plant care depends on your home environment, season, lighting, humidity, potting medium, and watering habits. Observe your plant and adjust its care as needed.
